Inquiry into Victoria Planning Provisions amendments VC257, VC267 and VC274 (WATCH NOW)

In mid-May, the Victorian Parliament voted to retain planning amendments VC256, VC267, and VC274, a decision we strongly support.

Our executive director Robert Pradolin GAICD and CEO Dan McKenna were proud to speak at the inquiry, which took place on April 30th, and share why these reforms are a crucial step toward addressing Victoria’s housing needs.

We know they will require ongoing community and industry feedback, yet they lay the groundwork for delivering more homes where they’re most needed.

Speaking at the hearing was an eye-opening experience. While we encountered many others in support of these reforms, there were just as many opposing them. That tension reflects the challenge of change.

We know change can be difficult. But we also need to acknowledge the pressures on those working to deliver housing right now, and recognise what a more consistent, clearer planning pathway can unlock. New approaches bring new challenges, yes, but also new opportunities.

We are excited to continue to see how these planning reforms will support Australia’s ambitious (but necessary) housing targets.
